On a recent day trip, I discovered a place so peaceful and beautiful that I spent a couple of hours just wandering the trails, nature paths and grounds of this park, Hampton Plantation, absorbed in the wonder of the magnificent live oaks, azaleas in bloom and pervasive sense of quiet and being totally away from the world.

Far from everything I discovered a green and watery world of cypress trees and flowing water I had never seen before up the road from Charleston and another world away.   Here time stands still for a few moments.

At Magnolia Gardens one finds along the path side gardens and places of special beauty, bordered with flowers in spring and green and lush in summer.
